Aspiration

My Lord,

Soak my soul with the lightning of raved fire,

Drench the mortal cloak with a luminous desire,

Let my famished foil caress the delicate divine vial,

Carcass of imprisonment be to the trail, left in a fretful while,

My Merciful,

Lead the flame lit routes of prism paves, whilst an unprecedented friar,

Embrace β€˜tis beaten down morality, drowned in countless torments amongst needs, dire,

My Creator,

Tame my soul to shine through the social norms and aspire,

To alter the frequent prevalent charades, longeth required,

Uplift the revered pathos above all tyrannical inquires,

Fathom the velvety darkness of pivotal python acquired,

  1. Good to see you post something…it’s been a while. Busy with being M.S., young woman on the go, I imagine. Always awed by the passion you pack into the few short lines of a poem.
    Ciao….

    • And mine too πŸ™‚ But while this is the wish for the soul of ours, the social practicality strives to cover everything up with a blind.
      Regards and blessings πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      • This made me laugh at first and then made me realize how far we are have to travel the road of humanity. All said and done, we still move on the same pace at the same place. May be most of our species has been like this since always or may be we are the evolved product of today’s age. One can never conclude precisely.
        Regards πŸ™‚

      • humans are no different to the birds and bees, we eat sleep mate and defend πŸ™‚ and will do anything to achieve those goals, sometimes to excess, but then, there are those enlightened ones who have the foresight to see the bigger picture, they are a rare person indeed but do exist in every age πŸ™‚
and we are far too curious for our own good sometimes, shiny things seem to attract our attention in a primeval way

  2. Reminded me of this: “O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.” [The Rending Asunder (ALINSHIQAQ) (84), 6] ….This was beautiful.

  3. Yes, we surely need hard striving and we just go on believing that we will be the recipients of blessings without any cost. And way to Him surely has no price, for the ultimate prize !
Thank you for quoting such a thoughful verse ! Much appreciated !
    Regards πŸ™‚

  4. “Soak my soul with the lightning of raved fire” — amazing! There is a type of poetry, “mystic” might be a good word for it, that combines spiritual and physical, love songs for the divine, I’ve always been in awe with. St. John’s dark night of the soul, Lalleshwari’s passionate words for her dark lover, Ruimi’s searching for his soul mate Shams, the Song of Songs. This poem finds voice in such company, This poem is amazing!

  5. A wonderful prayer to embrace early this morning. Maryam you hear shines with a certain radiance, whose flame will never dissipate…awesome poem! May your day be filled with God’s blessings and love!

  6. Absolutely beautiful! I’ve read it several times already, and it goes deeper in meaning each time. Keep writing : )
